Calvary Youth

The Calvary Youth Group exists to do three things; love one another deeply, serve God whole-heartedly, and learn about God's love and meaning for us.

aCTIVITIES

Sunday Mornings:

Calvary Youth meet each Sunday morning of the year. We start Sunday School Fellowship at 9:30am and wrap up at 10:30. After a short time of fellowship and donuts, we have three different Sunday School classes; 7th & 8th grade, 9th & 10th grade, and then 11th and 12th grade.

Sunday Evenings:

Our Sunday evening activities vary from week to week. We rotate between having monthly dinners at family's homes, doing missions projects, and studying aspects of our faith together. These meetings are usually from 6pm - 7:30/8pm depending on the activity.

Wednesday Evenings:

Each Wednesday we have an in depth Bible study from 6-7pm. We usually study books of the Bible as a whole, and in certain seasons of the church calendar (Lent, Advent) we study Scripture that matches the mood and purpose of the season. This is immediately following church-wide dinner in the Fellowship Hall at 5pm.

*More specific scheduling information can be found in the Line Up Youth Newsletter. Contact Ali ([email protected]) to get a copy of the Line Up or to be added to the newsletter mailing list.

What

We

DO

Mid Winter Retreat

The youth head to Latham Springs Camp every President's Day weekend in January. We partner with Dayspring Baptist Church, Lakeshore Baptist Church, First Baptist Waco, and Seventh and James Baptist Church to make MidWinter Retreat a time of fellowship and in-depth study of God's word and God's plan for us.

Passport Choices

Our youth group heads to Passport camp every summer in either June or early July. If you're interested in camp,, email Ali, and check out Passport's website: www.passportcamps.org.

Summer Activities

There always countless ways that our youth serve our church during the summer (Children's Bible Club, Music Camp, etc.). Every week of Calvary's summer activities is an opportunity for a great adventure.

We also do FUN things together during the summer that we might not always have time to do during the school year. Some of those activities include traveling to trampoline parks, going to see the Texas Rangers play, or even just hanging out in Waco and getting frozen yogurt together.

We also use the summer as a time of SERVICE! This past summer we spent a day at the World Hunger Farm located in Waco. We did hands on work with people who spend a lot of time devoted to sustainable farming and learned about food insecurities going on in our very own city. As part of Calvary's mission - we strive to be involved in the city we live in and invest as much as we can in the wellbeing of others!

Aloha Weekend

"Aloha" Weekend is Calvary Youth's chance to celebrate both the "hello" and "goodbye" that each new school year brings.

Taking place in mid-August, just before school begins, this welcoming of the new 7th graders and celebrating of our Seniors takes place the Friday and Saturday leading up to promotion Sunday in our Sunday School classes.

This is a great chance for the youth to welcome a new group of students, to get to know them, and to introduce them to our specific, youth group family.
